Just a couple of general notices:
Nominations are now open for the annual LAMMY awards over at the Large Association of Movie Blogs.
As you can see, we recently submitted a “For Your Consideration” banner to the site. If you are a LAMB, please consider nominating us! The nominations are open until May9th.
Next month, the Classic Movie Blog Association is sponsoring the Movies of 1939 Blogathon, coordinated by the ever-fabulous Page and Becky.
True Classics is very excited to be participating in this event! We’re going to be posting on the Barbara Stanwyck–William Holden film Golden Boy, the movie that launched Holden’s career and made lifelong friends of its two stars. Make sure to look for our post on May 16th!
And finally:
Our feelers about hosting a Lucille Ball blogathon to celebrate her 100th birthday have gotten a great response, so we are setting a date: August 6th, Lucy’s actual natal day! And as TCM has recently posted their August “Summer Under the Stars” schedule, and has dedicated the 6th to twenty-four hours of Lucy films, it feels even more appropriate to schedule the event for that day.
We’ll have more details as they arise, but for now, here are a couple of preliminary banners to use to begin promoting the blogathon on your site, should you so desire.
And if you already know what you want to write about for the blogathon, or if you have some ideas or want to help organize the whole shebang, shoot us an email at trueclassicsblog (at) gmail dot com and we’ll make a note of it!

Hey, I’ve gave this a lot of thought and I’m going to contribute an essay not on a Lucy film but her radio sitcom, My Favorite Husband — the show that eventually led to the creation of I Love Lucy.
Wicked sweet! I was hoping someone would cover MFH. My I Love Lucy DVDs have a few of the radio episodes in the “special features” and they’re just wonderful.
I would love to participate. Is it okay if I do Stage Door (1937)? Her role is small but she makes an impression.
Hi, Audrey—thanks for joining in, and we’re glad to have you! Another blogger is planning to write on Stage Door as well, but there’s no set rule that everyone has to write on a different film. I think it will be interesting to get multiple perspectives on some of Lucy’s more popular work!
